‘The French Research Map on Green & Sustainable Finance’, is a collaborative digital cartography proposed by Finance for Tomorrow<\/a><\/span> and theInstitut Louis Bachelier,<\/a><\/span> in collaboration with FIR – Forum pour l’Investissement Responsable<\/a><\/span>. <\/i>The aim of this collaboration is to highlight the quality of the French research ecosystem in green and sustainable finance, and to make it more accessible to finance professionals, researchers and students.<\/strong><\/p>\t<\/div>\n\t\n\n\n

Financing the fight against climate change and redirecting financial flows is an immense and complex challenge. Economic, financial and public players have the capacity to direct capital to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals<\/a><\/span> and those of theParis Climate Agreement<\/a><\/span>. They need to be able to draw on high-quality finance research to explore the consequences of financial choices, test innovative tools and develop concrete solutions. Finance For Tomorrow thus places research at the heart of its activity, which aims to make green and sustainable finance the driving force behind the development and attractiveness of the Paris financial marketplace.<\/p>\n

The Institut Louis Bachelier has initiated a ‘ Grand Programme Transverse de Recherche en Finance Verte et Durable<\/a><\/span> ‘, with the aim of stimulating researchers, pooling research efforts, increasing financial resources and widening the audience for this work.<!u002du002d \/wp:paragraph u002du002d> <!u002du002d wp:paragraph u002du002d>This mapping should make it easier to find one’s way around all the institutions and their projects, as well as shedding light on the challenges and possible solutions. By promoting these activities, Finance for Tomorrow and the Institut Louis Bachelier aim to increase opportunities for collaboration between professionals and researchers. It is essential that these links be strengthened, so that companies are able to identify work that could meet their needs, and can become involved in the development of research projects. To carry out the mapping, Finance for Tomorrow and the Institut Louis Bachelier carried out a study to identify institutions, researchers and their research topics. This study was completed by experts from the Finance for Tomorrow and FIR ‘Research’ groups. Once the players had been identified, their activities were divided according to 10 major research themes: Climate, Biodiversity, Energy, Mobility, Carbon, Social and Solidarity Economy, Corporate Social Responsibility, Finance Ethics, Socially Responsible Investment, Development. At this stage, over 150 institutions have been identified, divided into four categories of players: ‘Academics’, ‘Public Institutions’, ‘NGOs, Think-Tanks, Networks’, & ‘Private Sector’.<\/p>\n

Based on this work, the cartography was designed as a datavisualization that links to a directory of institutions, to make the ecosystem more legible while providing access to more information. This digital cartography is a collaborative tool: anyone can propose modifications or contributions to complete it. In this way, all the players involved can take part in promoting green and sustainable finance research in France and become part of a dynamic ecosystem, able to meet the challenges of tomorrow’s finance. The mapping is being launched for the ‘ Green Finance Research Advances <\/a><\/span>‘ event co-organized by I4CE and the Banque de France in partnership with the Institut Louis Bachelier and Finance for Tomorrow, on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.<\/p>\n
