Paris, October 17, 2019 – Augustin de Romanet, Chairman of Paris EUROPLACE, announces the appointment of Thierry D\u00e9au as Chairman of Finance for Tomorrow and the addition of Jean-Jacques Barb\u00e9ris to the Board as a qualified member.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In accordance with Paris EUROPLACE’s articles of association, this appointment was proposed by the Finance for Tomorrow Board, whose interim chairman is Pierre Ducret. Thierry D\u00e9au, Chairman and CEO and founder of M\u00e9ridiam, will take up his position on the occasion of Climate Finance Day on Friday, November 29, 2019.<\/p>\n

In addition, Augustin de Romanet has appointed Jean-Jacques Barb\u00e9ris, Head of Coverage for Institutional and Corporate Clients and member of Amundi’s Executive Committee, as a qualified member to replace Daniel Roy, who has resigned.<\/p>\n

Launched in 2017, Finance for Tomorrow is the branch of Paris EUROPLACE that federates players committed to making Paris the benchmark marketplace for green and sustainable finance internationally. Finance for Tomorrow brings together all private, public and institutional players wishing to commit to finance that bets on a sustainable future and combines long-term investment with consideration of environmental and social challenges.<\/p>\n

Thierry D\u00e9au’s appointment comes at a time of accelerating projects led by Finance for Tomorrow, particularly following the Paris financial center’s declaration on July 2, 2019 to take a new step towards green and sustainable finance. Key projects include the creation of an observatory to monitor the achievements and actions of Paris financial market players in green and sustainable finance, mobilization for the adoption of a coal divestment strategy by all players, and the holding of the 5th Climate Finance Day on November 29, 2019.<\/p>\n

Pierre Ducret, interim Chairman of Finance for Tomorrow said<\/strong> ‘ Thierry D\u00e9au’s appointment is excellent news. An ardent promoter of sustainable finance and an internationally recognized entrepreneur, his knowledge of the issues and his ability to mobilize will be essential assets for the Paris marketplace. Biographies:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thierry D\u00e9au<\/strong>, 49, is Chairman and CEO of M\u00e9ridiam, an investment company with a mission specializing in the development, long-term financing and management of infrastructure projects, which he founded in 2005. With over $7 billion in assets under management, the company currently has more than 75 projects under development, construction or operation.<\/p>\n

Thierry began his career in Malaysia with GTM International’s construction company. He then joined Caisse des d\u00e9p\u00f4ts et Consignations, where he held several positions before becoming CEO of Egis in 2001. Thierry is currently Chairman of the Long Term Infrastructure Association (LTIIA), a member of the Board of Directors of the Fondation des Ponts, a member of the Investment Committee of the European Strategic Investment Fund (ESIF), Chairman of Archery for Inclusive Leadership, founder of the Africa Infrastructure Fellowship Program Foundation (AIFP Foundation), a founding member of the World Economic Forum’s Sustainable Development Investment Partnership (SDIP) and a member of the Sustainable Markets Council for the Commonwealth of Wales.<\/p>\n

Jean-Jacques Barb\u00e9ris<\/strong>, 39, is Head of Coverage for Institutional and Corporate Clients and a member of Amundi’s Executive Committee. He began his career at the French Treasury. From 2008 to 2012, he was in charge of climate-related economic issues, then financial markets. In 2012, he joined the cabinet of the French Minister of the Economy and Finance, and took part in the creation of the Banque Publique d’Investissement. He then joined the office of the President of the Republic, where he was economic advisor from 2013 to 2016. An alumnus of the Ecole nationale d’administration (ENA), Jean-Jacques Barb\u00e9ris also holds an agr\u00e9gation in history and a master’s degree from the Institut d’\u00e9tudes politiques (IEP) in Paris.<\/p>\n
